itsy bitsy baddie

i have an increased desire for finding more amusement these days. the reason is as simple as in a world gone completely mad, it is really nice on occasion to find something surprising that also makes me smile.

i am fortunate enough to be able to spend some of my money on coffee, and equally as fortunate to live near both a dunkin’ and starbucks location. my drink of choice at either is most often cold brew (even in winter) because it tastes good (with the appropriate number of flavor shots, of course), and because it “sits” with me much better than regularly-brewed coffee.

i tend to bounce back and forth between the two establishments, but a couple of years ago dunkin’ started producing a spider donut for halloween, and this year they appear to have taken the promotion to another level.

enter itsy bitsy baddie…

when I purchased my two dunkin’ spider donuts on day 1 of their promo, little did I know i would be earning a dunkin’ badge for doing so (the badge is just for show…no dough).

itsy bitsy baddie made me smile. not just because of its unexpected appearance and very cute name, but because it communicates in itsy bitsy lowercase…all of which combined to produce an uppercase SMILE for me.

thanks, itsy!

  1. Those would be so great for a Halloween party treat! Glad this “award” made you feel good Bruce 🙂

    1. Deb, sometimes it is the “little” things that make one smile. Thought this was a clever way to market a donut for a couple of weeks…in what is primarily “candy season.”

  2. i see now why u lowercased everything🕷️👍😉 My friend is obsessed with Dunkin. Every time I travel with him he stops to pick up breakfast burritos and coffee… Ahh! itsy’s cute but creepy at the same time!

    1. E.F., I thought the lowercase chat from itsy was a nice “finishing touch” to the promotion. Admittedly, sometimes itsy’s face on the donut itself can be a tad on the creepy side…they don’t always get the face exactly right.😄

  3. I’ve seen some really cute Halloween cupcakes and donuts, and they always make me smile. Dunkin is on to something. People will come back for more!

    1. I agree, Belinda. Last year, they apparently marketed its availability on social media fairly heavily, but this year the campaign seems more focused and for a wider audience. itsy is a hit with all ages!

  4. You know you had me at donut! 😀 This is so cute. ok, tough guy….time to buy more! gotta love dunkin’.

    1. Thanks, Lois. I try to eat donuts in moderation, but when they have a edgy personality to them I let my guard down a bit.😄

  5. We have a dunkins and a starbucks right next to each other. They both are always busy as all get out. I don’t know how people can afford it every day though…

    1. I don’t need coffee to wake up like others might. I just enjoy it in the morning. I cut back on expenses in other areas to make it happen, Mrs. B doesn’t like coffee at all, so I figure we’re already “saving” on coffee.😉

  6. We now have attractive passports for our ‘Lounges’ cafe/bars. You get one stamp at each of the 250 around the country and earn a free drink and then eats as you earn more stamps! I only have three stamps so far, but my niece has been travelling around to visit as many as possible. We like the ‘Lounges’ for their atmosphere and great breakfasts.

  7. That’s very creative cheffing right there. We have a cacao farm here in the southern island of Mindanao, Bruce. And my wife produces choco drinks and cacao-based granola. Hopefully to produce gourmet chocolates at a limited level. These ideas surely inspire us.

  8. Cute idea for a Halloween donut. I know that the cost of ground/bean coffee for home-brewing has doubled. Have they hiked the prices at dunkin and starbucks for brewed coffee?

    1. I think those coffee prices have stabilized, but at Dunkin’ they “recalibrated” their rewards points…although they may have actually just made it more attractive for regulars…trying to get new people to become regulars. I’m still “calculating” the effect.

      1. Want to hear something cute? I was having a conversation with son and granddaughter today about Halloween. I said I read about a cool spider donut. Son described it and I said did you get it at Dunkin Donuts and he said yes 🙂

  9. I love that! I wonder what award you would have gotten if you selected the pumpkin spice donuts. Whatever it was, surely not as cool as the lc baddie.
